Our Team - Pat_Gillespie

Pat Gillespie

President

Pat Gillespie is the chief visionary, founder and president of Gillespie Group. Under Pat’s leadership, Gillespie Group has been at the forefront of development and property management, and is recognized as a driving force for progress in Lansing and throughout the state.

Known for his multifamily and mixed-use developments in the Greater Lansing area and surrounding markets, Pat is a respected leader. With his heartfelt mission to motivate and energize Mid-Michigan communities, Pat is recognized for his focus, enthusiasm and ability to bring his unique perspective to life.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Pat supports his alma mater through speaking engagements and attending sporting events. His expertise is put to good use, by engaging audiences at MSU’s School of Planning, Design and Construction, Land Policy Institute and Building Construction Management department when called upon. Pat enjoys sharing his insight with students and faculty.

As a passionate participant in Metro Lansing’s growth Pat holds board positions on the Prima Civitas Foundation, Sparrow Foundation, Lansing Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee and MEDC’s Redevelopment Ready Communities Advisory Council.

Celebrating 20 years in the industry, Pat has advanced over thirty (30) real estate developments.  He is an advocate for urban renewal through activism and revitalization projects.  His efforts are designed to affect positive change and make a lasting commitment to communities with each development.

Our Team - Rachel_Michaud

Rachel S. Michaud

Vice President

Rachel Michaud is the Vice President of Gillespie Group. An asset to the industry for more than 20 years, she joined the team at Gillespie Group in 1998. She brings with her vast experience in Real Estate, Marketing, Sales and Management. Her responsibilities include oversight of all day-to-day business operations of Gillespie Group; all leases, overall asset management and equity services. Since the inception of her career at Gillespie Group, she has aided company growth of a staggering 750%, with a portfolio growth from 214 units to more than 1,500 and more than 400,000 square feet of commercial property in 15 short years.

Rachel attended Western Michigan University where she initially began her career in the real estate industry. Upon completion of her education, Rachel pursued an interest in real estate in East Lansing, Mich., and has remained an active participant in the community. Rachel taught Junior Achievement for five years and continues to support the JA program. Additionally, she has worked with multiple groups such as March of Dimes, McLaren Foundation (as a Board member), Women’s CEO Network, Capital Area Women & Lifestyle Editorial Board and Volunteers of America.

Rachel is an avid MSU fan and resides in East Lansing with her husband, Greg Michaud, and their two children.

Our Team - Jen_Charette

Jennifer Charette

Director of Property Management and Operations

Jennifer joined Gillespie Group in 2002 as a leasing associate, and was promoted to manager of Westbury Lake Apartments in 2003. In 2007 she was promoted further as Regional Manager, where she oversaw 450 high-end rental units and over 40 for-sale homes. In 2011, she was promoted to Operations Manager and mostly recently to Director of Property Management and Operations where she oversees the property management division along with human resources management and marketing strategies for the company.  Gillespie Group’s pursuit of continuing progress in Michigan and the creative, energetic people she works with are just two of the many reasons Jennifer enjoys working for the company.

Jennifer grew up in East Lansing and attended Hope College, where she graduated Cum Laude and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Economics. She also has her real estate salesperson license for Michigan, and is a member of the Property Association of Mid-Michigan. Jennifer sits on the Alumni Board for Lansing Catholic High School, and is a member of the Junior League of Lansing where she is on the leadership council.  She loves MSU sports, Polish food and songs from the ‘90s.

Our Team - Tricia_Walthorn

Tricia Walthorn

CPA – Director of Finance

Tricia joined the Gillespie team in 2010 as the company’s first director of finance. In this role, Tricia manages and oversees the finance and accounting related functions of the Gillespie Group properties and developments, including financial reporting, compliance and strategic development.

Prior to joining Gillespie Group, Tricia began her career as a CPA with Plante Moran, PLLC, one of the nation’s largest and most highly regarded CPA firms, where she specialized in the real estate and construction industry. Until her recent role with the Gillespie Group, she consulted independently with companies in the Lansing area, serving as interim controller/CFO.

Tricia is a native of the greater Lansing area and earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University. She is a certified public accountant (CPA), licensed in the state of Michigan. Tricia previously served on the Finance Committee for the Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM), and was a Controllership Task Force member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).

Jason Kildea

Director of Commercial Real Estate

Jason Kildea is the Director of Commercial Real Estate at Gillespie Group. Jason joined the team in July 2008 after spending six years with CB Richard Ellis Commercial Real Estate Services. Over the past 10 years, Jason has been involved in more than $50 million in commercial real estate lease and sale transactions.

Jason’s main responsibilities include working closely with the company president and vice president on proposed and current commercial developments, overseeing commercial construction projects and strategizing how to best position the Gillespie Group’s commercial real estate assets. Additionally, he is responsible for recruitment of new commercial tenants, working closely with property management staff and maintaining quality relationships with current commercial tenants.

He is active in the community, sitting on the board of directors for Big Brothers, Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region, and is a supporter of several other area nonprofit agencies, such as Ele’s Place, Camp Highfield’s and the American Red Cross.

Jason has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Michigan State University, and belongs to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the Detroit Area Commercial Board of Realtors, the National Association of Convenience Stores, the Commercial Alliance of Realtors and the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors.

Rachel Foster

Regional Manager

Regional Manager Rachel Foster oversees six communities throughout the Allendale, Charlotte, Ionia, Portland and Delta Township areas in Gillespie Group’s growing portfolio of apartment and loft communities. Her property portfolio boasts over 590 high-end apartments, 20 condominiums and 43,000 square feet of retail space. Rachel works closely with our management, leasing and facilities teams. She enjoys community development, marketing and working alongside our property management team.

Rachel’s more than 12 years of management experience in the multifamily industry has helped her to develop a strong property management style that focuses on quality customer service. Rachel enjoys her role and being involved in local projects.

Our Team - Amanda_Taylor

Amanda Taylor

Regional Manager

A thirteen year veteran of Gillespie Group, Amanda began her career with Gillespie Group as a part-time Leasing Specialist in January of 2001, and soon knew she had found her passion for property management.  Within one year she had been promoted to Property Manager of Springbrook Meadows and has since been promoted to Regional Manager while maintaining a steady focus on growing revenue, streamlining expenditures and delivering unsurpassed customer service.

Amanda has acquired an extensive amount of experience in her 13 + years with Gillespie Group and successfully manages a portfolio of over 770 apartments and 1 Commercial Retail Space.  Amanda oversees the operations of her portfolio where she maximizes income through occupancy with her on-site teams.  She has a proven track record of maintaining the highest industry occupancy standards while continually pushing delinquency below 2%.  Amanda radiates a positive outlook, providing leadership and mentoring to her community managers, leasing and service teams while maintaining positive relationships with residents and vendors.

Amanda is currently studying business management at Jackson College and serves as a committee member of the Young Professional Networking Group of Jackson and the Education Committee for the Property Management Association of West Michigan.  She has also served as a Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and earned her National Apartment Leasing Professional designation in 2002.

Our Team - Sara_VanOver

Sara VanOver

CPA – Controller

Sara joined the Gillespie team in 2012 as the company’s Controller.  In this role, Sara manages and oversees the operational accounting activities for all of the Gillespie Group properties.  Her responsibilities include monthly and year-end financial reporting, providing guidance and training to the accounting department and other team members, and assisting the Director of Finance on projects related to both operational and development properties.  As a manager, Sara focuses on building a strong and cohesive team while identifying the most efficient and effective ways to accomplish tasks.

Sara began her career at ManerCosterisan, a local CPA firm in Lansing, where she specialized in real estate assurance.  Sara grew up in Adrian, MI and earned her bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in accounting from Alma College.  She is a certified public accountant (CPA), licensed in the state of Michigan.
