Pat is the chief visionary, founder and president of Gillespie Group. Born and raised in Lansing, MI on Clemens Avenue, a graduate of Michigan State University, Pat holds Lansing and its success close to heart. Known for his multi-family and mixed-use developments in the Greater Lansing area and surrounding markets, Pat is a respected leader recognized for his focus, enthusiasm and ability to bring his unique perspective to life. He holds over 20 years in the industry and has advanced over 30 real estate developments. He is an advocate for urban renewal through activism and revitalization projects. Under Pat’s leadership, Gillespie Group has been at the forefront of development and property management, and is recognized as a driving force for progress in Lansing and throughout the state.

As a passionate participant in Metro Lansing’s growth, Pat holds board positions on the Delta Dental Board of Directors, Lansing Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee, Lansing Economic Area Partnership Board of Directors and Steering Committee, Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau Team Lansing Foundation, Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Redevelopment Ready Communities Advisory Council and Sparrow Foundation.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Pat supports his alma mater through speaking engagements and attending sporting events. His expertise is put to good use, by engaging audiences at MSU’s School of Planning, Design and Construction, Land Policy Institute and Building Construction Management department when called upon. Pat enjoys sharing his insight with students and faculty.

Our Team - Rachel_Michaud


Vice President

An asset to the industry for more than 20 years, Rachel joined the team at Gillespie Group in 1998. She brings her vast experience in Real Estate, Marketing, Sales and Management. Her responsibilities include oversight of all day-to-day business operations of Gillespie Group; all leases, overall asset management and equity services. Since the inception of her career at Gillespie Group, she has aided company growth of a staggering 750%, with a portfolio growth from 214 units to more than 1,800 and more than 675,000 square feet of commercial property. Rachel currently is a member of the Wharton Center Advisory Council and serves as a member of the Lansing Board of Water and Light General Manager’s Roundtable.  Additionally, she has worked with multiple groups such as March of Dimes, McLaren Foundation (as a Board Member), Women’s CEO Network, Capital Area Women & Lifestyle Editorial Board and Volunteers of America.

Rachel attended Western Michigan University where she initially began her career in the real estate industry. Upon completion of her education, Rachel pursued an interest in real estate in East Lansing, Mich., and has remained an active participant in the community. Rachel taught Junior Achievement for five years and continues to support the JA program. Additionally, she has worked with multiple groups such as March of Dimes, McLaren Foundation (as a Board member), Women’s CEO Network, Capital Area Women & Lifestyle Editorial Board and Volunteers of America.

Rachel is an avid MSU fan and resides in East Lansing with her husband, Greg Michaud, and their two children.

Our Team - Tricia_Walthorn


CPA - Director of Finance

Tricia Walthorn joined the Gillespie Group in 2010 as the firm’s first Director of Finance where she manages accounting, finance and IT strategy for the company’s $314 million real estate portfolio.  As a member of the firm’s executive team, Walthorn is committed to growing the company to meet its objectives while pursuing financial strategies that protect and maximize investor returns.  Through her tenure at the Gillespie Group, Walthorn has successfully executed complex capitalization strategies, bringing creative developments to life in Lansing, Michigan’s urban core, such as the Capital City Market, one of Michigan’s featured Opportunity Zone projects.

Prior to joining the Gillespie Group, Walthorn began her career as a CPA with Plante Moran, PLLC, where she specialized in the firm’s real estate and construction practice. Walthorn holds a bachelor of arts degree in Accounting from Michigan State University, where she graduated with high honors.



Director of Property Management and Operations

Starting as a leasing associate, Jennifer joined Gillespie Group in 2002, and worked her way to a Regional Manager overseeing 450 high-end rental units and over 40 for-sale homes. In 2011, she was promoted to Operations Manager and then became the Director of Property Management and Operations where she oversees the property management division along with Human Resources Management for the company.

Jennifer graduated Cum Laude and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Economics from Hope College. She also has her real estate salesperson license for Michigan, is a member of the Junior League of Lansing, on the membership committee of the University Club of MSU and volunteers as a volleyball coach.

Gillespie Group’s pursuit of continuing progress in Michigan and the creative, energetic people she works with are just two of the many reasons Jennifer enjoys working for the company.



Director of Real Estate and Project Management

After spending six years with CBRE’s Commercial Real Estate Services, Jason joined Gillespie Group in 2008. Jason’s main responsibilities include working closely with the company President and Vice President on proposed and current commercial and residential developments, overseeing construction of the projects and strategizing how to best position the Gillespie Group’s commercial and real estate assets.  Jason has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Michigan State University.




Starting as an Executive Assistant to Vice President, Rachel Michaud, Ashley joined Gillespie Group in 2015 and worked her way to the Director of Marketing role. Ashley manages and oversees Gillespie Group’s unique culture and all marketing and advertising for its residential and commercial properties as well as its new business-bold development projects. In addition to driving interested potential residents or business owners to their properties, Ashley is also a part of recruiting new businesses from outside Lansing to come and take root in Lansing.

Ashley graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2008 from Southeastern University in Florida. Her love for the people  and for the city brought her back home to contribute to the community and growth of Lansing. She is a part of City Life Lansing, a nonprofit, that is focused on loving and caring for the people of Lansing in all ways possible including tutoring athletes at Eastern Highschool, volunteering at local Lansing Elementary schools, hosting a free sports camp for kids and throwing block parties throughout the city in the summer.
