Izzo Family Medical Center

MSB2 Building, Developed by Gillespie Group

QUICK FACTS

Opening Date: June 2023
Location: 3220 Discovery Dr, Lansing, MI 48910. University Health Park
Square footage: 60,400
Current tenants: McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation, MSU Health Care, and Helen Devos Children’s Hospital

The over 60,000 square foot Izzo Family Medical Center is the second medical services building located on McLaren Greater Lansing’s new hospital campus at University Health Park. It represents a new phase of innovation and expansion for Gillespie Group, bringing together partnerships between

  • McLaren Hospital
  • MSU Health Care
  • Helen Devos Children’s Hospital.

This collaboration will bring an MRI and Radiology center with cutting-edge technology, a women's center focused on women's services, and nationally-recognized pediatric hospitalists and neonatal nurse practitioners.

The building will expand new and innovative patient care services to the Lansing region, including MRI technology that cuts the scan time in half, allowing more patients to receive care quickly, while also hosting premier training opportunities for the next generation of medical professionals through Michigan State University.

Building with Partnerships in Mind

At the heart of the MSB2 construction process was the understanding that patients need more than just medical attention — they need an environment that facilitates healing and comfort. So we set out to create a facility that would cater to the needs of patients in the region and beyond, providing them with world-class care in a cohesive environment.

The design process was focused on accessibility, with the building located in close proximity to the new McLaren hospital, and the parking lot was designed with minimal grade changes to ensure ease of access for all patients, regardless of their condition.

East End

East End, Developed by Gillespie Group

QUICK FACTS

Opening Date: June, 2014
Location: 215 State St, Midland, MI 48640
Square footage: 224,000
Current tenants: DOW, Chemical Bank, Mid Michigan Hospital, East End Enterprises, Maru Sushi

East End is a public/private partnership development that infused energy into a district and initiated further transformation for its region. This project was created as a mixed-use development located across from Dow Diamond in Midland, Michigan – home to the Great Lakes Loons Minor League Baseball team.

Providing office space for over 300 office users and commercial space for a medical user, restaurant, and retail, the East End development connects Dow Diamond to the existing downtown area — collectively creating vibrancy, walkability, energy, and further appeal in Midland.

Creating Another Downtown — on the East End

East End was designed with the needs of the community and its users in mind. The main tenant, DOW, wanted a modern and dynamic work environment, which led to the creation of an open floor plan with ample column spacing, complemented by large windows that flood the space with natural light. In addition, a mix of commercial and retail users on the first floor were incorporated to create a vibrant downtown feel, adding to the energy of the area.

The building is strategically located near the Dow Diamond, home to the Great Lakes Loons, and like our Lansing-area development, Outfield Lofts, it created a unique experience that uses the excitement and energy of a minor league baseball stadium to add urban energy to the community.

The success of East End set a precedent for this urban-center concept, and continued the trend of executing customized projects that meet the specific needs of each community we serve.

Today, there is one 5,391 square-foot commercial/office suite available to lease. Learn more at https://www.gillespie-group.com/properties/commercial/east-end.

BLOCK600

BLOCK600, Developed by Gillespie Group

QUICK FACTS

Opening Date: October, 2020
Location: 600 E Michigan Ave, Lansing MI 48912
Square footage: 150,590
Current tenants: Courtyard by Marriott, Capital City Market by Meijer, and BLOCK600 Lofts

A partnership developed on an acquired 21 parcels of land making up a four-acre Brownfield site, BLOCK600 has been a transformational addition to the community of the Stadium District and Downtown Lansing.

It met Lansing's need for an affordable and accessible grocery store that provided access to fresh produce, Capital City Market, 40 market-rate residential apartments, and a 120-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel with a restaurant/bar in the lobby – the first hotel added to the area in over two decades and only the second in downtown.

Award-Winning Work

After a decades-old non-compete clause expired with Lansing’s only downtown hotel, city officials and community residents expressed a need for a second hotel, as well as a grocery store in a near-food desert environment, to encourage downtown living, increase foot traffic, and add energy to the district.

Breaking ground in 2019, the construction process of BLOCK600 faced hurdles throughout 2020 with implications from COVID-19 and labor shortages. Through creative solutions and grit, our team and partners pushed through to open the doors of BLOCK600 on time in October of 2020, bringing new life to the Stadium District of Downtown Lansing when the community was aching for new experiences and amenities.

Because of the complexity and need, BLOCK600 gained international recognition through several awards, including:

  • The International Economic Development Council’s 2021 Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse Gold Award

The 2021 Public-Private Partnership for 25,000 – 200,000 population Gold Award for its partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
