LANSING STATE JOURNAL— A grocery store and a hotel are planned for the 600 block of East Michigan Avenue, part of a mixed-use development slated to open by the end of 2020.

The $40 million project will enhance the quality of life downtown and raise standards for existing properties, said Pat Gillespie, president of Gillespie Group.

“This elevates the tide," he said.

The market, hotel and dozens of one- and two-story residential units are planned for a 4.15-acre site on the southeast corner of Michigan Avenue and Larch Street that was once the location of Brogan's Tire Center and the Ballpark Mobil gas station, among other properties. It sits kitty-corner from Cooley Law School Stadium.
